We Just Us is dedicated to inspiring and uplifting the Black community to create sustainable and meaningful connections through education, the arts, and wellness programming. As artist advocates, the We Just Us Quarterly Magazine highlights artists being exactly who they are because we are just us-- and that is more than enough!
Learn More!We Just Us is dedicated to curating community engagement opportunities that not only gather us together, but encourage us to relate to one another. Tragedy is not what binds the Black community, and too often that is the point at which we come together. We Just Us believes that we get to gather for joy, art, healing, education, and social justice sustainably with an intention to fill our cup, not break it.
If you are in the process of making greatness or haven't started yet, We Just Us welcomes it all. From our open mics to our community contest, we are supporting artist being themselves and enjoy the artistic work of poets, musicians, singers, and performers in the community. If you are on the edge of starting your artistic journey, you are also welcome! Youth, you are especially welcome because creating is only part of the process. What we create becomes part of a larger beautiful tapestry of our reality weaving into our truth, creating a future we desire. You can also join in the fun and contribute to the We Just Us Quarterly and submit your own work and present at workshops and open mics! There's no pressure to be perfect, just be yourself, because that, essentially, is perfection!

Ademola Oyewole-Davis (singer/song writer, poet, educator, performer) and Tayllor Oyewole-Davis (poet, writer, educator, performer) were cooking Saturday brunch together as usual, having one of their weekend discussions on art, education, music, and weaving their dreams into reality, when it came to them: The answer to their dreams was not in the perfect song, poem, job, or business plan, it was in them accepting themselves and their calling. The best part? They don't have to do this alone. Two years passed by before the seed they planted began to bloom in community with others after moving from New York City to Santa Barbara and the vision was clarified into three values: Community, Art, and Creativit, and We Just Us was born.
